Welcome

Mayberry Days is a festival for the whole family with activities and events for the fans who long for the days when life was simple and the sheriff didn't carry a gun. Enjoy a bottle of pop while playing checkers, relax to music from many local bands playing the same songs that Andy grew up with and performed on The Andy Griffith Show. There is so much to do during the festival such as watching the parade, meeting the Special Guests, laughing at Colonel Tim's Talent Time, placing the high bid at a Silent Auction or taking in all of the music at the many venues. Remember to to take time to slow down and enjoy what Mayberry means to you.

Only one word to describe Mayberry Days - BIG! From the first  "Ernest Tee" off at the golf tournament on Thursday morning to eating a barbecue sandwich to singing the last gospel song at the Blackmon Amphitheatre on Sunday morning, it's Big! The Surry Arts Council and City of Mount Airy welcomes fans of all ages and from all around the world to Mayberry Days. Make plans now to attend this family friendly festival and enjoy four full days of the Mayberry spirit.

Mayberry Days events take place in locations around Mount Airy, with the Andy Griffith Playhouse and Blackmon Amphitheatre being the hubs of activity. Most everything is within walking distance, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes (the festival goes on, rain or shine). There is free parking in the numerous municipal lots downtown. Events are scheduled for minimal overlap where you can enjoy nearly everything or just relax and enjoy your time at the festival.

Be sure to come visit Mount Airy during other times of the year as well. The Andy Griffith Museum is open 7 days a week and the Surry Arts Council has events going on throughout the year, so there are plenty of reasons to return.

Mayberry Confidential

The Mayberry Confidential is the official festival newspaper of The Surry Arts Council and your guide to all Mayberry Days events and other great shows, concerts and arts programs during our 2011-2012 calendar year. The 2012 edition is still available at the Surry Arts Council venues and other places around town as well as online.

Be sure to support the businesses who advertise in the Mayberry Confidential and tell them "thanks for supporting Mayberry Days!"

Mayberry Days T-Shirts

This year's edition of the Mayberry Days T-shirt ROCKS! The shirt was designed by Greensboro graphic artist and Andy Griffith Museum Volunteer Mike Johnson. It pays tribute to the real Mayberry spirit of slowing down to enjoy the simple things in life like trying to peel an apple without breaking the peel - just like Mr. Tucker in the fan favorite episode "Man in a Hurry."

T-shirts are $15+tax and available at the Andy Griffith Museum Gift Shop. Sizes include Youth L and Adult Small-XXL.

The Mayberry Deputy & Floyd the Barber

Mayberry Days wouldn't be the same without David Browning as The Mayberry Deputy, and Allan Newsome as Floyd the Barber. The Surry Arts Council appreciate all their efforts, along with the other tribute artists to make the festival so much fun for everyone.

Games and Family Fun

Mayberry Days has something for kids and those of us who are kids at heart. Lots of free events and children's activities along with games of skill and mental challenges. Highlights include the Mayberry Days Golf Tournament, Trivia Championship for youth and adult, Mrs. Wiley's Tea, WBMUTBB Silent Auction, and Pickleland to name a few. More fun that you can throw a rock at!

See all the details and plan your weekend of fun for the whole family.

Mayberry Days Championship Barbecue Cook-off

The Barbecue Cook-off will return in 2012 with another weekend of great food and fun. Starting on Friday night, cookers from all over the state will be tending the fires to create some of the best tasting NC barbecue this side of Mount Pilot. Barbecue judging is Saturday morning. Special Guests will announce the winners on stage at the Blackmon Amphitheatre Saturday afternoon.

1-lb containers of barbecue are still available (frozen) by call SAC at 336.786.7998.

Information for barbecue cookers interested in completing this year can find all the information on our Barbecue Cook-off page.
